My father,Ernest Edward Lindus,served at first on HM Torpedo boat 116 and later as a boy seaman on HMS Glasgow. The Glasgow was involved in two major sea battles during the first world war, The battle of Coronel and Falklands,
In the first the british fleet were destroyed by the German south atlantic squadron under admiral Graf Spee, later he, still on the Glasgow, joined the British battle squadron consisting of Battle cruisers Invincible & Inflexible,Glasgow,Kent and others destroyed the the Sharnhost, Gneisnor,Nuremberg,|Leigzeig & Dresden.
He ,wounded , was returned to the UK and in 1917 returned to civilian life......
