7.2 cm x 6.5cm for the Shoto Tsuba
Both are approximatly 5mm thick.
The work is of the finest quality but have been mounted for the last forty years on a Daisho so some very minor wear can be seen.
Most unusual design with styalised Dragons and clouds in Gold. The maker has the cloud design with a fiery tail alternating from omote to uru .
As with all my sales from the collection I guarentee that these are 100% Japanese and not far eastern copies or fakes.

Daisho Tsuba (Traditionall for a pair of Samurai swords. Rare to find such quality,Rare to find Daisho tsuba.
These Sword guards are for the long & short sword carried by samurai in old Japan.
The term Daisho comes from the names of the long and short sword.....Daito......Shoto. Better known as a Katana & Wakizashi.
This pair I would say date from the late edo period and were mounted on a Daisho in my collection for some forty years, they although of the finest quality never in my opinion matced the rest of the mounts although were original to it. All the Daisho fittings are of Shakudo and gold with a theme of Samurai so when I came into possession of Daisho Tsuba of solid Shakudo with gilded Mimi and gilt Mon I crossed the line and remounted the pair.
That is not such a great crime as some would say as the Samurai did remount swords on a regular basis.
