I have been asked about sword polishing availability.

Polishing has always been an expensive and shot in the dark transaction.  The potential of the sword having a flaw can sometimes mean that a considerable outlay has occured befor you see that the sword is tired,has a Kizu or in some otherway it is money 'Down the drain'.

An option available to you is that a final stage commercial work is done, this allows you to see the Hamon ,Hada and all other detail befor deciding if you wish to expend the fairly high cost of a full polish.

The sword and especially in the case of Showa To, will come back with all detail that can be seen at a fraction of the cost,£6 per inch plus Postage of course. This on average will be in less than a month.

No chips or major rust pits will be removed,in fact no major metal removal is involved. The advantage to this is of course that no irritreaveable damage can be done to the blade while confirming the age,quality and area of manufacture are far more easily ascertained.

If after this a full polish is required I can arrange this within the UK. Cost at the moment is £20 per inch,time involved around four months.

As you can see my friendly polisher lives well off his vast fee taken to rub a bit of metal over a stone.......does concern me that he is a "Plain fellow".....How did he get such a pretty and submissive companion?.   (All hints will be treated in complete confidence)
